4We Cheer  Mar 07, 2010
This is a fun game but a little too fast for my 5 year old. She liked picking out the uniforms and which girl she was going to be but became frustrated when she wasn't able to keep up with the cheer leaders. It would be nice if there was a beginners level that taught them the basic cheer moves. I think we will play this more as she gets better at doing the moves. As a side note, I liked it and it is a great, fun workout for a busy mom!

5She loves it!!  Jan 31, 2010
I ordered this game for my daughter. It arrived right on schedule and she plays it every day. I guess it's safe to say that she LOVES it!!!

4harder than reiews made it sound  Jan 09, 2010
I bought this for my mentally retarded 17 year old daughter, thinking she would be able to play it without a big learning curve, based on the reviews that much younger children were enjoying it. Since she loves all the cheerleading and HSM vidoes, and sings and dances to them all the time, I thought she'd love this. But after a few tries and repeated Failure scores, she got discouraged. Getting the hang of coordinating the controls with the screen has been a big challenge. This is her first Wii game, so maybe if I can get her to practice, she'll enjoy it more. Overall, the game looks fun. We just found it more challenging than we expected it to be.

3Huh, I am a little surprised by all the 5 star reviews here.  Jan 05, 2010
The game is fun, but I wouldn't consider it to be five stars. I guess it really depends on what you consider the value to be though. The positive that I have noted about the game is that it keeps you in shape. I don't know about the long term value of this, but it is as good as any aerobic exercise class that you would take at the studio. You will get a real work out doing this and it tones leg and arm muscles. The routines do not work so good on the abs, but in combination with sit ups you will notice that you are in better shape than before you played the game. Perhaps, that does make it worth five stars. I really appreciate that Nintendo created a healthy game system that keeps you in shape so you aren't just sitting in front of the tube.

The thing that is so regrettable about this game is that I personally cannot stand the models. Why do they have to be so thin that they are not even 100 pounds? I feel bad letting my daughter play the game because it is brainwashing nonsense. Why not just tell girls that they are most valued for what they look like and that the ideal is to be anorexic? I know that this is an extremely unpopular view, but it is why this is not a wonderful game. It is brainwashing girls into the belief that they are only worthwhile if they are pretty and very very skinny.

Another issue here is that like a lot of these Wii games with character design, there are like 5 different white races and only one black model. You can be five different types of whites, but all black people have the same skin tone? If you are Mulatto like me, forget it. There are no brown people in Wii world. It is amusing. Seems like those annoying Genie Bogs stole all the colors from We Cheer too. You also cannot change the character's eye color and there is a favoritism for blue, green, and purple. What happened to brown eyes?

The game play is fun, but it is also frustrating. You spend more time trying to time the remote than actually learning the dances. The timing is too sensitive on the game. I also agree with the woman that commented that it is not the way that you learn dance in real life. You are never taught the routines step by step so you are left to fend for yourself in a group that already knows the dances and they are hard. It is so strange to me that so many people posted that they were teaching their kids to cheer when dance and cheer isn't taught like this. For one thing, you never have the person you are following face you. You need to see the back of models to follow them and learn a routine. I do not know what the effect of this would be long term on children if you attempted to teach them dance like this and then put them in a real learning environment. I think that it might actually be a detrimental way to teach. They are learning that your right is my left. In dance class, your right is never my left!

Considering that you have to break a serious golden rule just to play the game, it is very very difficult. It is actually discouraging. You have to score very high to pass each board. It is so sad to see the little depressed cheerleader that my daughter gets distraught when she doesn't pass a board. I have to wonder what the point is in that when it is a fake teacher situation anyway. They never even bother to teach anyone the steps. Hmm, bit of a mean game for girls. It tells them more often then not that they don't make the cut. It is a fun game, but overall, the message is bad, and the teaching method is poor.

5WOW!  Jan 05, 2010
Wow, this game is great! It really gets you up and moving! I was expecting much less when I got it for Christmas. (I'm 11) It's a lot of fun, except, you'll want to skip the beginning tutorial unless you like boring. All you do is basically move the wii remotes to the beat when the timed star moves around the line. Some of the songs are a bit outdated, and you can get sick of having to do the same songs over and over because some are really hard to unlock. I also think the outfits are a little skimpy. The shorts are kind of like underwear. The girls have huge busts and tiny bodies. If you want to dance with that, okay. The dances are fun and challenging, until they get old.Another disapointment was that you need two remotes for one person except for a wiimote and nunchuk. These are the different parts:
Championship: Dance to all kinds of different songs and unlock new clothes and stages if you haven't beaten the game.
Cheer Off: Compete with 2 to 4 players for different songs.
Workout: Help a fat guy get thin and work out. present at the end.
There is a squad makeover so you can pick your squad. Dressing Rooms are where you can pick an outfit for your squad. That's all the main stuff. Overall it's FUN!!!!!!!!!
