Cute graphics but... Aug 01, 2009

"Mommy to my two wonderful little ones!!"
The graphics are really cute with the little space chimps jumping and climbing and such. It really does seem like it would be a fun game BUT...we can't figure out how to even get out of the first phase...we can't get past a few 'jumps' beyond the beginning of the game therefore we simply can't play it! Both my husband, myself and our 8yr old has tried to no avail. Obviously games are supposed to somewhat challenging but come on, it's a kids game...I bought it for our almost 5 and 8yr old and none of us can manage to get beyond the a few minutes of the start of the game. I looked and couldn't find any tips so if anyone knows of a resource, please let me know! We REALLY WANT to like this game!! The story is adorable...in the beginning, you've got a group of space chimps walking to their space ship like in the movie Armagedon...really cute. If we could only figure it out....I'd rate it a 4 if the game turns out to be decent.

My family LOVES this game! Mar 12, 2009

I purchased this game shortly after buying our Wii. My husband and kids love this game. It isn't good for younger kids however, my 5 year old and even my 8 year old have difficultly coordinating the motions needed to do the actions in the game. But my 10 year old as well as my husband love it and think that the graphics as well as game play are really cool.

Decent gameplay! Game has a few glitches Jan 17, 2010
By Gene Cloner In this game, a team of monkeys go to space on a NASA mission and get lost in an alien planet. Their colleague/friend gets captured by the nasty alien ruler of the planet. The objectives of the game are to rescue the colleague and then defeat the boss and free the natives (some of the locals also help the monkeys in their missions). You alternate between Ham (male) and Lucy (female) and go through different missions. This game is basically a 3D platformer. The monkeys run, jump, swing on vines and poles, fight enemies and in some instances even fly using the help of a butterfly friend. The gameplay is okay (not too difficult most of the time) and there are several puzzles that are very good (e.g. finding keys and ways to open new doors). The game is very forgiving; there are frequent restore points and unlimited retries. However, you can 'save' only in some of the points. Young kids (under 8) might need some help in solving puzzles or fighting multiple enemies at the same time.
The graphics are well done (for Wii capabilities) and also the music is very good.
- The story in the game is not very clearly presented and is sketchy. May be for someone who has seen the movie it may be clear.
- These two monkeys have different attack modes. It can be a bit confusing at times
- The game got stuck a couple of time for me (the monkey falls in unseen gap on the floor!!).
Overall, a decent game. very good puzzles.

Having observed the kids playing this game and talking to them about it, they really do seem to like it. Got a great deal on it and bought for my own children and another copy to give as a gift. It's a step away from the more mainstream games which is nice to give them a break into something other than the same old same old. Nice to have variety of games also when friends come over to play. The kids seem to take to it very quickly and easy to navigate but it's still challenging. Kids in my review are ages five to twelve. To put in bluntly sometimes you get a "great deal" on games because they plain stink... not the case with space chimps!
