2Honest mother review...  Oct 30, 2010 By Andrea Y. Adams "Yamille"
I was really excited to get something that my 3 1/2 girl could play, interact With and actually learn.... I had a lot of faith on thiis Sesame street wii game. I pre ordered and counted the days... This is what i think about it:

What they're selling:
- The concept is great. To teach rhymes, colors, shapes, phonics and alphabet.
- the zoo is divided in areas: wet lands, arctic, jungle, aquarium, savanna. Each area with 3 to 4 short games.
- the game adapts to your child's skills...( NOT! )

What you're buying (40 bucks... Ouch!)

- In the beginning it's not easy to get the remote to respond.. Or let's say, to get your child to do what the remote has to do.
- you will have to either pick up a second remote, hold your child's hand and intruct her or use your creativity and move the remote in a different way instructed by the game and have it to respond. (for example: the "back and forth" movement can be substituted to a movement like "driving" with the remote... The "scoop" movement can be adapted to a "up and down" movement...
- some games are easy/difficult when it comes to content (well, of course, it depends on your child) and some are easy/difficult when it comes to get the child to operate the remote. (it can happen that your child knows the answer but can't get the remote to respond, getting the child frustrated and uninterested)

The development of the game:
- it is all divided by "zoo area". I think it should be divided by subject ("phonics", "colors"..) or by level
- there are VERY little games (the games are short, which is okay so it doesn't bore the children but... Too little games for 40 bucks)
- No pipi break!! The game doesn't pause!
- no "back to menu" option. (if your child is playing and you realize the game's too hard or she's uninterested, you can't go back to menu mode and choose another game. You will have to press "home" button on your remote and start everything over again.
- no unlocking, no new phases. All that you see is what you get.

About the Elmo remote cover:
- what is that thing for, actually?
- if you put it on, it blocks the buttons and the sensitivity of the remote and it doesn't respond.
- it was meant to dress the remote over that silicone dress. (FOR WHAT???)

I REALLY wanted to love this game (I wouldn't mind to hate it if my daughter loved it, but she didn't... She likes it for 5 minutes). It was not worth it not because of the big expectation I had but the content or lack of it: Few games, can be frustrating and... the price is ridiculous. That being said, I will try not to regret too much buying this game (ouch, my 40 bucks!)
I wish I had tested it in a store... I wouldn't have bought it cause I'm sure my daughter would let me know in a minute how not amused she was.

That being said, I'm glad I didn't buy the Cookie monster game together!

4Obviously a minority opinion, but . . .  Nov 05, 2010 By Patricia A. Baker "sara & meg's mom"
This game is not perfect. A good start is immediately tossing the slip cover into the garbage. Beyond that, my 3 year old and 5 year old enjoy the game. My 5 year old can play by herself, and my 3 year old can't. If you're searching for something to entertain your kids while doing something else, this is not the game for you. I sit with my 3 year old and help her with the motions if she is having trouble, but as we've gone along its gotten easier. I imagine with a little more experience, my 3 year old will be able to mostly do this without me being so hands on. The games are repetitive and short, perfect for the little one, though the 5 year old is getting bored with it very quickly. The price seems really high for an Early Childhood game. I was willing to pay the price to give my little one another medium to work on her letters and numbers.

1Buy this if you love the sound of crying children!  Oct 19, 2010 By G. B. Keefer "Star Wars freak"
We were very excited when this game as well as the companion Counting with Cookie monster game, was announced. In concept this should be a great fun thing for toddlers and preschoolers to learn while having fun. Seems like the kind of thing the Wii was made for right?

Too bad the execution is so shoddy. The game itself has potential, bright colorful graphics and nice sound and voices by the original voice actors from the show. But the controls are completely screwed up from the get go. Case in point, you want controller 1 to be the one held by the child and that's the controller that has the character slip cover on it MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO START THE GAME WITH THAT CONTROLLER BECAUSE IT COVERS THE AIMING MECHANISM OF THE WIIMOTE!!!

Then, once you start the game and go through the tedious task of switching controllers in the menu, the game just does not seem to read the motions with any degree of accuracy at all making even this simple control scheme (tilt right or left to change, 2 or jump to select) an exercise in frustration for child and parent alike. The controls are further hobbled by the decision to not use the Wii Plus add on making an already messed up wiimote have even less chance of working in any meaningful way. Dumb dumb dumb! You can literally tilt for minutes on end trying to get the right letter highlighted only to have it switch at the last second to the wrong one when the kid jumps to select. The character on screen rambles off the same correction over and over again and you cannot start selecting again in earnest until it shuts the frak up. Rinse lather repeat. Very frustrating. I tried to do the commands myself several times and it didn't work any better for me. Way to make a toddler cry guys. Good job.

My advice, take the 40 bucks you were considering spending on this game and throw it in the trash, put a sock on your Wiimote and tell your 3 year old that Santa Claus died and Christmas is canceled. You'll get the same result (crying toddler, minus 40 bucks) and save a few keystrokes.

1Controls are terrible  Oct 21, 2010 By Nicole M. Hickerson
On the cover, it states the cover is to get your child not to see the buttons not used, not a cover for when not in use.(previous post not correct)
The controls are terrible. My 3 year old walked away after not being able to get response from the controller. As I right this, my 4 year old just came up and said he doesnt like elmo anymore and please remove the cover so he can bowl.
I tried to get the controller to respond as the game recommends and I cant get it to work either (and yea I got new batteries).
Avoid this game, try another.

2Huge disappointment  Nov 13, 2010 By Alex J. Tsouvalas
I had high hopes for this game, thinking it might be a fun, rainy/snowy day alternative to TV. Unfortunately it's lack of innovative games, clunky design, and boring gameplay, makes for a huge disappointment. It says there is a parent option, which I thought would allow me to change settings, or remove and add games based on age of players, but it pretty much lets you change sounds and play durations.

Perhaps my child is still too young (Games list age as 3+, but my toddler is an advanced 2.5 years who flies around an ipod touch) but again, I cant imagine it being much more fun for older kids. Maybe when she is older we will have a better experience, however I am not impressed, and have been around the gaming world for years, and was excited to play with my toddler on the Wii. This could have been so much better.
