Rapala Fishing Frenzy puts you in the middle of heart-pounding fishing action as you compete in 20 events to fill your live well with only the biggest bass. But time is limited, so don't be late for the weigh-in. Test your skills on six of America's greatest fishing lakes, including Lake Wylie, Clear Lake, Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Amistad, Logan Martin Lake, and Lake Okeechobee. You'll fish for nine species of monster bass, such as large mouth, small mouth, spotted, striped and more. There are also 14 other trophy species, such as trout, salmon, northern pike, catfish and walleye. Casting the line is initiated by flicking the analog stick or -- for less patient players -- by inputting specific commands to attract fish. Once a fish starts biting, the fight begins. Following the on-screen visual cues, you must carefully balance reeling in the fish while keeping an eye on the line's tension so it doesn't break. Button combinations can also be used to weaken the fish's resolve, allowing for an easier catch. As you progress, additional rods, lures, and live bait become available to improve the odds of landing the "big one." Other play options include an Open Fishing mode and a Quick Challenge. The former has you fishing on your choice of lakes, while the latter involves racking up high scores in timed events.

It's not a Wii game!!! Jun 25, 2010 I HATE that you have to yank the controller like you would a Wii controller... I do not know the term used for that. I did not see anything written that you would have to flail your arms around. That sucks! I just could not enjoy the game and my kids are not interested... guess it will collect dust.
Rapala Fishing Farse Apr 04, 2010 This game was purchased because I enjoyed Rapala Pro Fishing on the PS2. One would assume that the new game would be an improvement over the old. That is not the case here, this game was developed for a quick buck in a empty market. The developers of this game and Activision should be ashamed of this product. I will carefully examine the reviews prior to any further Activision purchases.
Rapalas Fishing Program Feb 06, 2010 This is a good program for that "fisherman" who wants to experience the thrill of hooking the big one from the comfort of home.
Lack of Competition Makes This the Best Fishing Game on the PS3 Dec 28, 2009 I bought this game for my 6 year old nephew, who's really gotten into fishing over the past couple years, but usually only gets to fish when they visit grandma and grandpa over the summer. The fishing part itself is designed pretty well. My nephew was catching 29" large-mouth bass within an hour. So it must be fairly simple to pick up. Considering the lakes in this game are apparently only filled with large sized fish, he might be disappointed when it comes to doing the real thing again next summer. So far, we've only been able to fish two of the featured lakes. The others are locked for some reason, I've yet to discover. I guess that's how you progress to new levels. Some of the controlls could be more intuitive, and the way the game loads is a bit confusing even for adults, asking about saved games, the very first time the disc loads?? The graphics are rather poor - definately, not up to HD quality. But, I'll skip further criticism, as while I think the only reason this game rates as high as it does is because it has virtually no competition, my nephew absolutely loved it. Like actual fishing itself, you could hardly pull him away from it.
rapala Dec 07, 2009 just got it it is fun but the manuel is no help when it comes to casting or driving the boat i turned like you do a car and that is how i figured it out. casting is like real fishing up and down real quik with the remote. other than having to learn pretty good fun.
