5This is why the Wii was created  Mar 26, 2008 By MFlat
This game is truly revolutionary. I am a football nut and watch the games on Setanta all week long. The Wii interface is a dream come true. You can control players off the ball with ease, and strategically control a match. Passing all over the field is as easy as pointing the cursor on-screen. Defending is much more about controlling the gaps, and man-marking rather than button-smashing. Corners and set pieces are brilliant as you send players on runs to draw away defenders and then sneak in a fullback at the last moment for a free header.

Seriously, this game is the best thing to happen to football games in a long time. Fifa/W11 are just graphical improvements one year over next ad nauseum. They can't touch the change in gameplay that we have here in the Wii version.

Granted, the graphics and presentation are not the best, but I prefer watching swimsuit models in HD if I want eye candy.

Great deal for the best sports game on the Wii!

5Revolutionary sports game  May 02, 2008 By Scott Lewis
Unlike the disappointing 360 and PS3 versions, the Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is not only fantastic, it revolutionizes how sports games can be played.

What the Wii allows is for the player to point and drag players across the screen, allowing players to control the entire team, rather than only the individual with the ball. This allows players to fake runs, overload sides, and create their own set-plays dynamically. While there is an initial learning curve, PES 2008 Wii allows you to play the truest form of soccer that has been made.

5Game changing  Mar 27, 2008 By Demian
This game is an absolute must for the soccer lover.

The controls take a little getting used to, but after that they open the door to a whole new way of playing, giving you an incredible control of the game.

For instance you can control more than 1 player at the same time. You can also pass the ball anywhere you could think of, make players run to open spaces, etc. The possibilities are endless!

And the best part is that you do so in an intuitive and easy way. Once you get used to the new controls that is :)

In my opinion this title revolutionizes the soccer video game industry.

Literally game changing.

5Fantastic soccer game for the Wii  Mar 20, 2008 By Bono
The Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is one of the best sports titles for the Wii. The ability to pass anywhere you want to on the field combined with excellent animations, online play, and number of liscensed teams makes this a must own for any sports fan and/or soccer fan.

The controls take a bit of getting used to at first, but once you spend time in the Training Mode, they become second nature. Also, the manual is extremely thorough and includes many, many moves that you can perform in game. Read the manual, and you will see just how indepth this control setup is.

There is definitely more freedom within the game which is a breath of fresh air. You can pick absolutely anywhere on the field to pass to, send multiple players on a variety of runs (and directions), and set up really neat plays on set pieces. The camera is pulled back farther than the other versions in order to see more of the field so that these type of plays are possible. You can also dictate on the fly how offensive or defensive you want your team to be by hitting the directional button on the remote.

On the defensive side, you have a variety of options. You can control just one player: All you have to do is click on a defender, hold A, and drag him any which way you like. You can also have control over your entire defense and pick which players you want to man-mark and zone.

The crowd chants/reactions and commentary are actually fairly well done. The menus and menu music is actually very nice for the first time in a PES game and they are very Wii-ish in style. Shooting is responsive, the framerate is absolutely solid, the ball physics are spot on, and the animations are superb.

This is THE best sports game for the Wii. I would recommend it for anyone who owns a Wii and enjoys soccer or for anyone who just likes games that really take advantage of the Wii control scheme.

5Great soccer game for the Wii!  Apr 08, 2008 By Shyam Sundar
In spite of being a big soccer fan, I was a bit hesitant about buying a soccer game with Wii's hand held controls for a leg controlled sport. After reading great reviews about the game, I bought it a couple of days back and was very pleased with the purchase. The Wii controls are pretty fun and the training mode prepares you well. The only thing that would beat this is having an Wiimote attachment to your leg. But for now, this is great fun!
