4The only sim racing title for Wii (as of Sept. 2008)  Sep 04, 2008 By O.S.
If you want something more realistic than Mario Kart, then this game is for you. I was pleasantly surprised by the physics engine of this game. Having played Grand Prix titles on PC as well as GTR/GTR 2, I had high expectations for the Ferrari game and it did not disappoint. The game further offers a nice variety of game modes. You will need to unlock most of the content and I personally liked the challenge. The AI is rather tough. The Homestead race was difficult even on the Beginner level of difficulty (1 of the 4 Arcade races). Beating lap records so far has been a challenge as well. My best Monza (first race track in the game) time is 1:53 which is 2 seconds slower than the lap record. Overall the game is a lot of fun and has a good lasting appeal. There are three reasons why I could not give the game 5 stars overall:
1) The graphics are nice given Wii standards, but you can't help noticing crude textures. The framerate is really good; but it may drop rarely (typically when you need it most). Still, I have to admit that 8-9 years ago PC graphics were already better. I do use HDTV Component cables, by the way.
2) The manual says that the game has video options. Apparently, it does not!
3) The game support Wii motion controls (aka Mario Kart) but I found Wiimote arrows much more precise than tilting the Wiimote.
Given that this is the only solid sim racing title for Wii, I highly recommend it.

4great game, a few flaws  Aug 28, 2008 By Brian Wood "many, many beans"
A lot of fun, and the Wii really needed a driving game like this. A nice balance of arcade and simulation. Great graphics (for the Wii). I've played most PC and Playstation driving games, and this game is very, very good.

Three demerits prevent me from giving it 5 stars: no 2-player mode, truly awful controls for manual shifting (why can't it use the '+' button???? seems blindingly obvious to me), and my biggest gripe: it takes far too long to unlock anything. Four 4-lap races in arcade mode (the minimum required to unlock a car or track) takes over half an hour. I paid my money and I want my cars and tracks, but I know I will never have the time to scratch the surface of what is available. Hopefully someone will post some cheats online somewhere, because i REALLY want my Ferraris.

4Single Player only  Aug 28, 2008 By T. Worthen
This is a great game and fun but the information is misleading. It does not have a versus mode and it does not do split screen. The back of the box says it is a one player game not two. This was very disappointing.

The graphics are good for the Wii. The game is fun and you have some nice ways of customizing the look of your car(s). The game play does not seem to be extremely simple but not extremely difficult either so I think it can be enjoyable for a wide range or people.

2Meh..would rather do something else.  May 28, 2010 By IndyLabRat "Dave"
I wanted a driving game (other than mario-kart) for the Wii and my wife picked this one up for me as a surprise several months ago. I myself would have probably gone for one of the Need for Speed series titles since I have played them on playstation before and enjoyed them, but I gave this a shot.

It is realistic in its feel and control feedback, takes quite a while to get the hang of and use the wii remote smoothly with it. Definitely a challenging game, The AI is tough and I haven't even scratched the surface on unlocking everything and I doubt I ever will. The graphics are good, not incredible, but better than I expected out of a Wii.

Some positives and negatives. Sadly one of my favorite parts of this is you can customize the look of your car. Graphic decals, paint schemes, numbering are featured with many visual options. The races are entirely too long...not possible to just sit down for a quick and fun race and jump to another track and do the same.

I guess how often I seek out and play this game sums up the review. I can't recall the last time I played it and don't plan on it anytime soon! The Money would have been better spent elsewhere. To me the Wii's strengths still lie in the sports games that get you up and moving!

So if you're looking for a realistic driving game without explosions and gimmicks, then this might be the one. It is just extremely lacking in some aspect I cant put into words. Its just NOT FUN.

3Definitely a challenge  Jan 03, 2009 By Eastnortheast
As the name indicates, this game is a challenge. Even in the arcade mode, it is very difficult (at least for me!) to finish anywhere but last. Although, I have not played it much, I can definitely see where this game could keep me occupied.

Use of the Wii wheel or controller and nunchuck are hard to master with this game.
