4A great entry level football game  Oct 04, 2009 By Gift Card Recipient "Phoxy Boxy"
I would recommend this game for anyone out there who is looking for an entry level football and is looking for something they can sut down and play with their whole family. Controls are easy and intuitive, the mascots are cool, and the gameplay is simple and fun. This is a great Wii game for kids that are in to football.

4Arcade football is the best football.  Dec 10, 2010 By Bryan C. Crouch
Family Fun Football will appeal to a certain type of player. This is nothing at all like Madden or any other deep football sim. However, if you enjoy Tecmo Super Bowl, Rushing Heroes, or NFL Blitz--football games whose focus is on simple playability and fast scoring--then is this the game for you.

Family Fun Football has all the standards of arcade-style football: quick gameplay (2 minute quarters), spectacular plays (40 yard TD passes are routine), and bone-crushing hits (guys even stagger to their feet and fall back down after really nasty ones). The field is condensed to 50 yards, with the 25 yard line acting as midfield. All the teams are fictional and don't really feature a "roster"; there are position players with a number and thats all. There are a variety of stadiums to play in, ranging from domes to temples to purple fields on the moon. Making certain plays (sacks, TDs, INTs, field goals) earn you powerups which you can use at any time, such as a speed booster and a "bullseye" which greatly increases your passing accuracy. Another great feature are the football-themed minigames, which you play at halftime to earn the right to play on your own later. All of these are very creative and fun, one in particular called "Mad Dash" requires you to pump the wiimote and nunchuk as if you were running in a race. Its a bit of a workout! Finally, what is a pretty simple game overall is given some solid replay value with a lot of stuff to unlock: new stadiums, new teams to play as, etc.

About the worst thing I can say is that unlike most arcade-style football games, Family Fun Football's control scheme is not intuitive and will take some getting used to. Just about every button on the wiimote and nunchuck has an action, and while every other move you make on the field is controlled by a button press, you throw the football by flicking the wiimote while holding B and the d-pad direction you want to throw in. See what I mean? Also, the fact that this was meant to be a simple game holds it back from reaching its true potential: with some actual rosters (even with fictional players), a better season mode, or online play, Family Fun Football could have been a modern classic in a dying breed of football games. I also don't care for the game's title, which is guaranteed to turn away some of the kind of guys who might enjoy this game. It was certainly a good decision to place Tecmo's logo prominently on the front of the package.

Definitley check out Family Fun Football if you're looking for different kind of console football experience. 4 stars.

1Game freezes from the start  Jan 04, 2012 By Leigh A. Powell
I bought this game for my son for Christmas, and tonight we began to play it. However it froze nearly from the start. I now read there is a potential defect in the game itself, and that must be what the problem is. Just disappointed that I didnt save the receipt. Then, I read the game was discontinued. How could Amazon sell such trash?
