A Decent MiniGame Compilation Oct 16, 2009
By Tristan A. Hayes There is really noting to spoil about the game. Essentially it is just a minigame compilation that is budget priced and attempts to bring a new and fresh take to the world of motion sports. DECA Sports 2 features ten new sports such as Ice Hockey, Dodge Ball, Tennis, Darts, Speed Skating, Mogul Skiing, Petanque (throwing a jack, then throw balls to get them as close as possible to the jack), Kendo, Motorcycle Road Racing, and Synchronized Swimming. The good thing and bad thing about these types of games is that there are a large number of events that can cater to a large number of people, but there are also a large number of events that wont appeal to people. For example, I feel that Kendo, Petanque, and Tennis were awesome events, but Synchronized Swimming, Motorcycle Road Racing, and Ice Hockey were quite boring or difficult to grasp the controls. The games are fun and probably the most intense is Tennis.
Ultimately there is fun here for people who like multiplayer games, there is an online component but I do not really think it is all that fun to play online when there is no voice chat, text chat, or even any other way to interact with the other person. I could see that it was a great addition, but like other games, the fun here is had when you play with other people who are live.
The only other thorn here is the odd presentation. The only voice like sounds are those made from the character grunting and what not, but there is no announcer guy or lady, which makes the game feel empty at times. Of course this is a small point if you're having fun and laughing/trash talking a friend, but it would have been nice. Visually, the game looks like a game from the middle of the gamecube life cycle, flat textures, bland moments, and jagged lines are all present. But this is excusable for a budget priced title.
Ultimately there are some golden jewels in this game and it wont disappoint if you are looking for a game that is fun right off the bat. Sure it wont be a single player game to last you for years, but for kids of all ages and adults it is one of those games that provides some fun for the family and friends.

At least it was better than the first one Oct 07, 2009
By LL The only thing that made me get this game was the previous good reviews on some gaming websites. I played the first deca sports and it was horrible, the motion controls had lagged and im even surprised that the company could afford to make a second one. It seems that they did fix some of the problems from the previous games the motion contols do work very well and it is actually fun playing some of the sports like raceing. The thing is though, not all the sports are fun. There was only 2 i found addicting, basketball and racing. Another bad the about this game is that the graphics are poor but beside that this game is an improvement to the first one and can be fun at times

Not worth the time and money Oct 31, 2009
By Ross This is possibly the single worst game that I have played on the Wii. The controls are, to use appropriate language, a complete joke. The games are also not that fun to begin with. The only game that had potential was dodge ball and that fell through once I found out that catching the ball, along with dodging it are next to impossible. I am blown away at the crap that game testers and companies let hit the shelves. One word describes this game, pathetic. Husdon doesn't even get points for effort. Complete waste of my time and hard earned money.

Lame. Jan 11, 2010
By MoLaw If you're like me and you expect Deca Sports 2 (hereinafter DS2) to be be a lot like Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort (hereinafter WS/WSR), well, I'm sorry to report that it definitely...ain't.
As far as I'm concerned, a lot of the fun for me is the Miis. I have an awesome supporting cast, and love to watch them interact up in WS/WSR. Miss Sophia v. Robert Goulet in boxing? Love it. For that reason, games like this that don't support Miis automatically start off on the wrong foot. DS2's characters are relatively cute, but they're also pretty indistinct.
The controls in DS2 are pretty lame also. WS/WSR did a pretty good job making the controls reflect the real-life gestures. DS2 didn't. For instance, DS2's speed skating requires the player to flap the mote/nunchuck to coordinate with the athlete's *footing*. Footing? Speed skaters totally fling their arms, but I'm "trotting" hand controllers like feet? Ugh.
Okay, I'll be honest: I bought DS2 principally for the synchronized swimming -- I thought it would be hilarious at parties to watch my goofy friends mirror the swimmer's moves, but again, the controls amount to "flick the mote this way, flick it that way, whirl it in a circle." You can do it sitting down. Bah. Not what I had in mind. Not by a mile. The fact I used male swimmers was, however, good for a laugh.
The bright spots (such as they are) are kendo (Japanese swordfighting) and pétanque (like bocce ball), but even those aren't very much fun to play. The camera angle for kendo is a bird's-eye view, and tossing pétanque balls should be at least as responsive as Wii Sports' golf or bowling -- but isn't. If you're playing by yourself, the computer slooooowly takes its turn against you. Boring. Speed it up, yo!
I think the collection of games is conceptually great because there's little something for everyone. Use Miis, make the controls more like WS/WSR and add some balance board support and this thing could be a Rock Star. As is, it's slightly more fun than playing with a rock.

HORRIBLE GAME!!! Jun 10, 2010 This is NOT worth buying. The game is frustrating and hard to control. The response was extremely slow. I could not control my character in the syncronized swimming. The game had unrealistic action. It did not use the Miis. You cannot create your own team symbol and the options were weird and hard to see. The only good sport was kendo. I hope this was helpful.
