Best Mini Golf game currently available for Wii Jan 29, 2009
By Bruce Barker
"Risingsnow"
Crazy Golf is not perfect and other reviewers have outlined many of its flaws already. The one negative I'll mention that others haven't is that the random viewers that populate the course are often quite bizarre and if you don't want your small child asking why the woman has a beard or the man is wearing a dress and and makeup, keep them away from this game.
Other than that I'll focus on the positive aspects of the game. Sooner or later someone will produce a better mini golf game for the Wii (Carnival Games Mini Golf certainly ISN'T it!) but until then a lot of fun can be had with this title. Once you get past the first course and start unlocking others, the holes get quite creative and challenging. While the graphics are broken in some ways (you often putt with your leg immersed in the "wooden" sides of the course for example) the physics and mechanics of the game work quite well. If you hit too hard or too easy you can expect to have a lousy lie. Also, just like real mini golf, you can have a lot of fun trying to find the short cuts that can be taken to beat the hole with a better score than if you follow the obvious path. The Japanese version of this game came with a plastic club accessory, but the US version doesn't have or require it and I think this is where a lot of the confusion and complaints have come from regarding the "sim" versus "arcade" control modules. Regardless, even though the game doesn't take full advantage of the motion-control of the Wii remote, it's still an entertaining way to pass an evening. It was one of the first games my wife and I purchased for the system and we keep coming back to it. My wife has never been a video game fan, but this game hooked her in a big way.
If you are new to the Wii, or new to video gaming and aren't already jaded by the more "realistic" games like Tiger Woods, I believe you will not only find this game entertaining, but more than worth the bargain basement price. Long time players might label Crazy Golf as "shovelware" and for their needs they would be correct, but for the casual gamer or newcomer I would eagerly recommend this title over any of the other mini golf titles or mini game collections that contain a mini golf game.

Kidz Crazy Golf drives you CRAZY! And not in a good way :( Jun 27, 2009

The Good: Graphics were cute. With so many holes to play, it had so much potential. But it fell flat.
The Bad: Maybe it's just me, but I had a terrible time trying to figure the controls. The slightest twitch of the wrist and my golfer would hit the ball. It's not at all like Wii Sports Golf (which I love).
Also, when my ball was just inches from the hole, the pole would still remain there until I hit the ball onto it, knocking my ball a good ten inches or so away.
Between every hole, there is a long delay in loading. Very slow.
It was the most frustrating game I've played yet. I quickly returned it.

wish I could return it! Jun 22, 2009
By Keith Weyandt I was given this game as a gift for Father's Day. I tried to play it with my 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son. Creating new Mii's was somewhat entertaining, as there are more/different choices, but it was very time consuming. Even if you can create a new Mii, you should still have the ability to import your existing Mii.
Not realizing what they meant by arcade or sim on the controls, we tried arcade first. We had each taken a swing or two before I realized that arcade refers to the type of control you'd find on a standup game in an arcade. In other words, just buttons and a D pad. The fact that you have a Wii remote, which was specifically designed to be sensitive to movement, is irrelevent. My guess is that the makers added this as an option right after they gave up on creating a realistic golf swing.
Apparently Sim is supposed to stand for 'simulate', as in simulating an actual golf swing. In this game, it should stand for 'simply', as in simply AWFUL!!! My kids and I found it very awkward to try to use the club to 'simulate' a golf swing because the game did seem to match up with the movement of the remote.
Given that the result on the screen doesn't match the movement in real life, they should have offered a 'mulligan' option and/or a putting green.
Like I said, I only wish I could return the game.

2 1/2 Stars - Over sensitive, but very sim like in controls, but lazy in visuals & sound Dec 03, 2008
By LanaFire Ok, boring visuals, you can see trailers & gameplay on youtube. Horrible sounds, music is bad, constant buzzing from plane that keeps passing & couple animal sound. Nothing more except occasional ball sound. Might as well have crickets. Loading times are as long as it plays to do a hole in golf. There are 4 worlds w/18 holes each, you must get par under to unlock the 3 other worlds. The nuyous are just like miis but slightly more choices. There are no controls for lefties. There are a lot of programming laziness, balls go through your shoes, if you do well you do the same "YES!" movement & if you do bad, you hit yourself w/your club repeatedly & the club goes through your head. The camera is for aiming only, there is no line to figure out where to go, you have to gage yourself you can only tilt up/down which is only for when there is something in the way. No controls for lefties. When aiming for shot, your nuyou's big, fat head will totally block the whole screen. The holes are boring at first, but then get very complicated like puzzles, great for teenagers & adults, but will be too hard for kids.
The most frustrating point: the controls.
You have arcade & simulation. In both you aim with d pad & the gage constantly knows where your wii mote is. When ready, you have to pull back a little until it A lights up & you can hit it to start your power meter or stroke. This is where it changes. In arcade, you pull back using the small meter which only has small green to yellow, orange & red at full strength, no #s. When satisfied, you just hit B, no swing. The meter is VERY sensitive, for putts, anything more then almost nothing is too strong. Easy to understand, but VERY sensitive. In simulation, once you hit A, forget the meter, just swing how you would in real life. It is pretty good programming. But again sensitive. You can't use your wrist, you have to really lock your wrist like real golf & not let that do ANY movement or it will always be too strong or putt when you were still deciding. You have to be precise in this game, no room for error at all.
Trust me, I knocked out Carnival games mini golf in about 2-3 hrs, this game is HARD & frustrating. Definitely rent it first and/or get a club that will help keep your wrist straight. Be ready for it to be like real golf where not only do you have to be careful about swing strength but trying to figure out where to go. This game could have been good if the visuals/sound/programming was better. It's like eating a gourmet meal in a hospital cafe. It distracts what could have been good.
This is made by Data design which gave us such shovelware like Myth Makers anything, Trixie in toyland, Gingerbread man & Anubis 2. This is nowhere near as bad & maybe even had promise if they gave a longer gage & more control options & more effort in everything else.

Average Wii Game Jan 11, 2009
By N.D. This game is acceptable. It is not as amazing in it's graphics and options as other wii games, but if you have younger kids (our son is 5y.o.), then it is a good game. As the "dad" playing w/ my son, it gets a little boring. If you are limited on $$, I would pick games like the "rabbids" or "Wii Fit (which has gold and lots of other sports like bowling, tennis, baseball, etc) for more fun, more options, and the same or less money.
