Singing is fun but dancing is not. Jun 23, 2010 I got this game two years ago and haven't played it much because of the songs and dancing. I like the whole concept of the game but don't like how hard it is to sing a song good. And after unlocking a few songs and clothes, I got tired of it and moved on. The selection of the songs is good but doesn't satisfy me when most of them aren't sung by the real artists. The dancing is hard too and doesn't make sense, and doesn't look like a real choreographer made them up. The game is a casual fun and is a party with friends, but it didn't impress me at all and is now a Wii game I play every once and a while.

Good Game, Good Songs May 07, 2010 We have enjoyed the game, at a teenage birthday party as well as just one or two kids playing together. It is fun. It has some great songs. If you like to move, it has dancing as well. The price was good.
The down sides:
In order to get to more songs, you have to play the same ones over and over again and sort of "buy" them. The dancing is tough and hard to follow sometimes.
I would buy it again and would recommend it to friends. Probably good for beginners and experienced users alike.

As a workout game, I'm having lots of fun with Boogie Superstar! Jan 26, 2010 After reading many of the reviews on Boogie Superstar, including mentions of its potential as a good workout game, I decided to pick up a microphone-free copy, and I'm glad I did! Prior to this game, my favorite game for a fun but effective dance workout was "Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party"'s "Dancing With Dweebs" game. That's still one of my favorites, but this game is my new alternate dance workout game.
Many of the reviewers of Boogie Superstar mentioned that they found either the cover versions of the game's songs annoying, or that they had issues with the inconsistency of the game's tracking of your movements via the Wii remote. I haven't found myself to be terribly annoyed by the songs (yet), but that may change as time goes on... So far, though, so good. Since I don't spend a huge amount of time listening to much pop music, the covers don't bother me quite as much as they normally might. No, they're obviously not the originals (EA would've probably had to shell out HUGE amounts of money for the rights to use those), but they're really not that bad, in my opinion.
As for the game's accuracy in reading movements made with the Wii remote, however, I have noticed that what's been said before has proven to be true for me, at least as far as one particular dance move goes - sometimes the game reads your movements as accurate, sometimes it reads your movements as being off, even when you're doing them the same exact way, time after time. Since, for me, it IS just one dance move that the game tells me I'm doing wrong, it may truly just be that I'm not doing it right, instead of the game misreading it, but either way, I'm often having so much fun with the dancing that I really don't care enough for it to stop me from playing.
As far as the karaoke part of the game goes, I can't speak to that, as I haven't bothered to try it yet. I don't have any USB game-compatible microphones laying around, and the game won't allow you to play any karaoke rounds without one... I'm considering picking one up, just to try that aspect of the game, and to use it on my other microphone-using games, but for right now, the dancing is my main focus.
Visually, I enjoy watching the mini-movies in the game, and overall I really enjoy the cartoony look of everything. The animation in the game is GREAT, especially where the characters are concerned. I'm always blown away and very entertained by watching the super-smooth and fluid movements of the characters as they dance and move. I think the customization options are perfectly adequate, and love that I can adjust color schemes as I choose. Kind of reminds me of EA's Sims games, as does the non-language spoken language that the characters use. Neither one of those features bother me in the least, and I like feeling that I'm actually part of a cartoon-like world when I play this game.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this game, and I'm having TONS of fun dancing with it. I had ordered a copy of "Just Dance" just prior to opting to pick up "Boogie Superstar" (which I found online for about fifteen bucks, brand new, without the mike), but I decided to skip "Just Dance" and see how this one played. For the current pricing on Boogie Superstar, I think it's well worth the cost, and I kind of find myself wishing that this game hadn't been discontinued. It's a pretty fun game, once you give it a chance!
Bought for a gift Jan 24, 2010 Bought for a 7 year old niece. My 10 year old daughter has this and loves it, so I knew that my niece would like it, because she likes to perform just as much as my daughter does.
