Cheerleaders love it! Apr 05, 2010 My daughter has spent hours playing this game, but now that the WII balance board has came out, I wish it was compatible with the balance board. That way it would be more about jumps balance and not just hand movements.

Big Workout! Oct 12, 2009 Daughter and friends have enjoyed this game. Found it to be a little more difficult than they had anticipated which is not a bad thing. Challenges make it more of a workout than just a game. Recommend for your cheerleader to be.

Thank God I rented it instead of buying it Aug 10, 2009 I'm always on the lookout for Wii games that make me get up and move, preferably to music. Last week I rented We Cheer, and boy, did I move. Today I took that one back and rented All Star Cheer Squad. Bad plan. The real problem, I think, is that unlike We Cheer, which uses a remote in each hand (thus allowing a free range of arm motion), All Star Cheer Squad uses a remote with the nunchuck attached. If you are a little person with a very small arm span, great. If you're a grown person whose arms, when extended, reach farther than the wire between the remote and nunchuck goes, too bad. Essentially, for many of the moves your upper arms are more or less glued to your sides while your lower arms are just waving the remotes around so you don't accidentally rip the nunchuck out of the remote.
Additionally, as far as any sort of exercise value goes, thus far the routines have been less than a minute in length. I could have stood still and waved my lower arms about for 45 seconds to music for free. (Also, just personal preference, I thought the music on this one was awful. Are these even actual songs?)
I don't have the balance board, which might have gotten a little more movement going, but that wouldn't have solved the problem of minimal arm movement.
This is the first day of a 5 night rental for this game. I'm taking it back in the morning. If you want a cheer game that has good music, lots of movement, and doesn't require a balance board, go for We Cheer and leave this one on the shelf where it belongs.

Hangs up in spots Aug 05, 2009 I agree with the other comments that the corded nunchuck is really limiting (wish I had a cordless one!) Some of the moves don't register, which is pretty frustrating.
The music is okay, but a little generic.
I had no trouble getting started and customizing my character. There weren't a ton of choices for customization - I made a cute cheerleader, but she didn't look all that much like me! Unlocking more outfits is probably fun, but I don't think it has more choices for the body of the character.
Every screen takes a really long time to load, at least 20 seconds or so. While this doesn't seem so long, it really starts to add up. Want to do a practice? Hang on 20 seconds. Want to do the next practice? We'll be right with you... Want to do a tryout? Just one moment, please...
My major problem with the game came when my BF tried to play it. (I coerced him in trade for agreeing to play RockBand!) He set up his character and went to the first practice. Several times at the same place during the initial tutorial ("This is a cheer line!") the game hung up the entire console. We had to hard reset and start over again. Tried this a couple of times with the same result in the exact same place. I set up another character in the #3 position to see if it would work and everything went smoothly. He tried again - locked up. He made a new character in the #4 spot, locked up again! Either the even numbered spots all lock up, or something else triggers it (choosing a male? the goatee?!?!) He played on the character I set up on #3 (female) and everything went smoothly. VERY frustrating! I guess he'll just have to be a girl ;)
I'm only on the practices and tryouts section, so I'll give it more time before I completely write it off. I found this game on clearance at Target for $9.98, so I think it was worth it, but I wouldn't pay much more for it. Haven't tried it with the balance board yet, but from the other reviews, I think it will be more waiting and less actual cheering.

Bring a book Jul 09, 2009 I have never had to wait so long in a game just to get to a play part. Have to wait for all the instructions. Have to wait for the board to callibrate *every* time. Have to wait as it loads dialogue. Have to wait as they talk. Have to wait as it goes from dialogue to main play. Then you have about 1 min of play before repeating the cycle.
Wait wait wait, not worth it.
